Sewer Rehabilitation Projects

The Municipal Sanitary Authority of the City of New Kensington is preparing an inflow and infiltration removal project for our sanitary sewer collection system. This essential work is part of our ongoing effort to improve sewer system reliability, reduce inflow and infiltration, and extend the service life of the existing infrastructure. Projects will start late in the 3rd quarter 2025 and the work performed by independent contractors

Sewer Rehabilitation Projects are planned for Oak Hill Hollow, Marker Street, Powers Drive, Fernledge, Aluminum City, Birchway, Oats Boulevard.

The general scope of the work is split into three contracts which include:

Contract 1 - CIPP Lining of 8", 10", 12" and 14" sewer, CCTV, smoke tests, and several tap and root cuts across four sewersheds, along with the reinstatement of all service laterals.

Contract 2 - Manhole Lining of manholes across four sewersheds for 166 manholes.

Contract 3 - Replacement and Point Repairs of 8" sewer, installation of new manholes, and several point repairs across three sewersheds. This will include:

Demolition of concrete and asphalt roadways.

  • Concrete and street restoration of all impacted city sidewalks, curbs and streets
  • Erosion and sedimentation controls

Estimated cost for all 3 projects are $2,878,900.
